Hobert R. “Joe” Layne, age 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. Born in Grundy, VA on February 1, 1944, he was the son of the late Homer and Virga (Foster) Layne. He honorably served our country in the United States Army from 1966 until 1968. On November 24, 1962, in Hernando, MS; he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Edith Wilkey. They moved from Illinois to Kenosha in 1972 and were blessed with 51 years of marriage. Sadly, she preceded him in death on July 28, 2014. For over 27 years, Joe was employed as a long haul truck driver with Outboard Marine Corp. He previously was employed with Penske Trucking and J.B. Hunt. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #92, Unity Lodge #367, and the Kenosha Shrine Club. Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey (Trina) Layne and Jason (Clerrisa) Layne; his six grandchildren, Austin, Logan and Brandon Layne and Emma, Ethan and Eva Layne; and his siblings, James Layne, Imogene (Martin) Mead, Phyllis (Richard) Weller, Jane (Lemont) Pederson, Sue Peoples and Wanda (Gene) Hall. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Layne and two sisters, Delphine Stiltner and Carol Miller.
