James A. “Jimmy” Mays, Jr., age 38, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, June 28, 2014.
He was born on October 5, 1975 in Kenosha to James and Patricia (Gascoigne) Mays, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Kenosha, although, he was well traveled.
Jimmy was educated in local schools, was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School and was an altar boy at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church for several years. He attended Gateway Technical College, where he was enrolled in the Horticulture Associates Degree program.
Jimmy found his niche in life as a cook for many local restaurants; his true passion in life was his love of cooking. He was a self- taught master of many cuisines and enjoyed cooking for others. He had a lifelong love of the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, when he could find the time. Jimmy was an avid bowler, a fan of the WWE, he played pool for many local tavern leagues over the years and also enjoyed reading, music and spending time with his large family. Jimmy had good luck when it came to scratch off tickets, raffles and slot machines.
He will be deeply missed by his parents, James Sr. and Patricia Mays; two sisters, Cheryl (Shannon) Haight and Emily (Greg Spinks) Mays; five nieces, four nephews and his very close friend, Jennifer. Jimmy was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; a sister, Cora Lee and a nephew, Stephen Lee.
