Sandra J. Phillips Sandra J. Phillips, 79, of Kenosha, died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at her home. Born on May 5, 1938 in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Wallace E. and Alice E. (Gifford) Lawell. She was a 1956 graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School. On November 23, 1956, Sandra married the love of her life, Thomas L. Phillips, in Booneville, Miss. They were happily married for 57 years, setting a wonderful example of a loving marriage. Sandra was employed as Executive Secretary at Warwick Electronics before leaving her position to stay home and raise their two adopted daughters. She volunteered for years at the Forest Park Elementary School library, as a Girl Scout leader and at the voting polls. Sandra returned to the workforce in the early ‘80s, serving as Computer Lab Manager at various schools within the Kenosha Unified School District. Sandra was a member of First United Methodist Church and its “Second Fifty” Club and the Kenosha Senior Center. Surviving are her daughters, Elizabeth A. (David) Boettcher and Stacey J. (Michael) Palumbo, both of Kenosha; and two grandchildren, Samantha E. Palumbo and Tyler R. Palumbo, both of Kenosha. She also leaves behind her loving puppy, Snickers, who is loved by all. Sandra is further survived by her brothers, James W., Sr. (Mary) and Brian C. (Mary) Lawell, both of Las Cruces, NM; and a sister, Wendy L. (Irving) Benveniste of Belmont, CA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas L. Phillips, in 2014. Sandra’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the excellent, compassionate care provided by her amazing caregivers – Tammy, Rosie, Carol, Susan, Walinda, Caroline, Kristina, Jaclyne, Alice, Sheri and Laura, among many others – and by Dr. James Bury and Chrissy. We will always be grateful to Kindred Hospice staff Linda, Jodene, Ally, Chaplain Kelly, Marion and Rachel for their loving and compassionate care. |
