Ronald J. “Ron” Meyers, age 80 of Kenosha died on Saturday, June 28, 2014.
Ron was born in Kenosha on May 5, 1934 to Joseph and Lillian (Shedek) Meyers. He attended Kenosha Catholic schools until he entered St. Catherine’s High School in Racine, graduating from there on June 6, 1953.
On August 18, 1956 in Kenosha he was united in marriage to Nancy Jacobs. Their marriage was blessed on December 3, 1978 by Fr. John Michael Murphy at St. Mary Catholic Church.
Ron joined Kenosha Lumber and Manufacturing Co. and spent over forty years there in various capacities. He began his career as a yard helper, became a truck driver affiliated with Teamsters Local 95, then entered the Carpenter Shop in 1954. By 1958, Ron had earned his Journeyman Carpenters Card in Carpenters Local 161, a membership which he held for over 20 years. In 1978, Ron entered the office at Kenosha Lumber and served as their estimator and Salesman until his retirement in 1992.
Ron is probably best remembered for his building or renovating several dozen homes in the Kenosha area over a fifty five year span, finally hanging up his tool belt at the age of seventy nine.
He enjoyed hunting and softball in his early years, and playing cards and traveling in his retirement years. From 1970 until his death, he enjoyed and was active in the stock market.
Ron is survived by his children, Bruce (Paula) Meyers, Mary Jensen, and Patricia (James) Sexton; step-daughter, Deborah (Clifford) Olson; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
