Service Date: January 5, 2018 Funeral Services honoring Richard’s life will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Therese Catholic Church, 2020-91st Street. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at the church for the Mass. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. |

Richard Walkowski, 90, of Kenosha, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at The Addison of Pleasant Prairie. Born in Kenosha on February 7, 1927, he was the son of the late Leo and Catherine (Vomastek) Walkowski. Dick attended local schools and was a 1945 graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School. He received his Bachelors’ Degree from Marquette University in Biology and Philosophy in 1951. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1946. On August 15, 1952, he married Nancy Ann Preston. They raised six children and were blessed with almost 45 years together. Sadly, Nancy passed away on April 5, 1997. Dick was employed with his father in Leo Walkowski and Son’s Garden Center on 75th street and 30th Ave; becoming the owner after his father’s passing. He was a founding member of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church and elementary school; serving as the first home & school president, the first parish council president along with many years as an altar acolyte, lector and Eucharist minister. He was a member of the American Legion Post 21 for over 60 years. Dick was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Archbishop Messmer Fourth Degree Assembly where he had served a term as Faithful Navigator. Dick was a Boy Scout Master with troops at St. George and St. Therese. He enjoyed his yard and fishing up north. Dick always had many stories to share and was a proud father and grandfather! Left to cherish his memory are his children, Lynn Ann Walkowski, Ann Catherine Schanel, Stephen Michael (Anne) Walkowski, Patricia Ann (Dr. John) Yaeger, Mary Ann Walkowski and Timothy James (Kate) Walkowski; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He is further survived by his brother, Vincent Walkowski and his sister, Donna Mae (Dan) Krejci along with many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Nancy Ann, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Barghammer.
