Carole G. Gerlach, age 84 of Kenosha, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Aurora Medical Center, with her family by her side. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she was born on August 21, 1933 and she was the daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Christianson) Larson. She was a 1951 graduate of Kenosha High School. On September 20, 1952, at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage to Donald Gerlach. She dated the love of her life for over “70 years”. Carole was employed as a bookkeeper with St. Mary’s Lutheran Church for ten years. Previously, she was employed with Paielli’s Bakery and James Stanley American Family Insurance Agency. She was a member of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church. In the 1950’s and 1960’s she was a member of the Mothers’ of Twins Club and was a lifetime member of the Kenosha Band Boosters. Carole was an avid reader, dedicated literacy tutor, and for 66 years, she enjoyed attending the monthly get-togethers with her high school girlfriends. Carole is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Donald Gerlach; her two daughters, Laurie (Tim) Lange and Janice (Steve) Klopstein and her three sons, Alan (Kerry) Gerlach, Gary (Mary) Gerlach and David (Diane) Gerlach. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer (Joe) Thurmer, Jeffrey (Kristin) Lange, Michelle (Jeffrey) Walter, Emily and Joel Klopstein; Nichole (Jacob) Lawler, Wendy Gerlach, Timothy (Kristen) and Adam (Becky) Gerlach and Sam and Clara Gerlach; and her great-grandchildren, Logan and Lucas Thurmer, Evan and Preston Lange, Aaron and Hailey Walter, Aiden, Avery and Andi Lawler, Mathias and Wesley Gerlach; and her sister, Judy Hess. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald (Carol) Larson and a sister, Beverly (Calvin) Patty. Funeral Services honoring Carole’s life will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, 2001 80th Street. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery. A visitation for Carole will be held at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home on Thursday, August 31st from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. |
