Cindy Ann Yandre Mitchell, 57, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2014 at Brookside Care Center after a long hard fought battle against Multiple Systems Atrophy.
Born August 27, 1956 in Kenosha, she was the youngest child of Charles E. and Grace I. (Robinson) Yandre. Cindy attended local schools and graduated from Reuther High School in 1974. She obtained her CNA certification from Gateway Technical College and for a short time worked at Brookside Care Center before moving to Phoenix, AZ.
She married Lawrence Mitchell and together they had a daughter, Katie Yandre Mitchell. Later they divorced and Cindy moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where she opened a small coffee shop named Choo-Chew’s.
Eventually, she returned to Wisconsin and attended culinary school at Milwaukee Area Technical College from which she graduated with honors. She worked at Kenosha Hospital for ten years before being stricken by her debilitating disease.
Cindy loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed camping and traveling. She had a soft spot in her heart for pets, dogs in particular, and she spoiled every one she had. Cooking was her passion and it gave her great satisfaction. Cindy’s incredible smile, huge blue eyes and infectious laugh will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Charles E. Yandre. She leaves behind her mother, Grace Yandre; her daughter, Katie; her brothers David Storey (Mona) and Paul Yandre (Jeff); her sister, Kathleen Yandre Nuzzo (Robert) and several nieces and nephews.
Cindy’s family wishes to thank everyone who cared so lovingly for her to the very end; especially the teams from Hospice Alliance, Casa Del Mare, First United Methodist Church and Brookside Care Center. All of you were wonderful.
