Barbara L. Colicki

Barbara L. Colicki, age 93, of Racine, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017, at St. Monica’s Senior Living in Racine.

Born in East Lansing, MI, on February 26, 1924, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Lelah (Gould) Shelly. She attended schools in Michigan and was a graduate of East Lansing High School.

On August 20, 1949, she was united in marriage to Frank Colicki. They were blessed with 59 loving years of marriage and identical twin daughters before he preceded her in death.

For almost 32 years, Barb was employed with the Kenosha News, beginning her career as a reporter and retired in 1995 as an area page editor.

She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Barb had a passion for many things. She learned to fly a small airplane, was a talented classical piano player and also had a passion for photography. She and her husband shared a love of animals and developed a rescue program for horses, as well as helping out with other animal rescues.

Barb will be deeply missed by her identical twin daughters, Kathy Perkins and Karen (Peter) Schilling and sister, Jeanette Conklin.
