Patricia Hughes, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, co-worker, friend, passed away with her family by her side on the afternoon of June 8, 2017. Pat was born May 26, 1940, in Kenosha, Wisconsin and lived and worked here nearly her entire life. She was a strong, independent woman who raised two children (Mark and Karen) by herself while working full time in the International Division at Snap-On Tools, Inc. She had a wide range of interests that she truly loved, whether it was her dinner clubs with co-workers and friends, the Foreign Film Series at UW-Parkside (especially quirky films like Lobster), Kenosha Kingfish games, or getting a chance to meet her namesake, Cubs radio announcer Pat Hughes, in 2016 at a Cubs game (the very same year her Cubs won the World Series, which like many, she thought would never happen). Everyone who knew her enjoyed being around her because she “got you” and her dry sense of humor that could catch you off guard at times. Her distinctive phone greeting “Yell-o” always brought a smile and her trademark whistle meant it was time to go or come in from the yard. She had a great family and many friends near and far who she always looked forward to spending time with. She will be truly missed. She is survived by son Mark Bloom, of Chicago, and daughter Karen Bloom, of Kenosha. She was blessed with three grandchildren Richard (RJ) and Caitlyn Hughes, and Anthony Huber, and two sisters, Elizabeth “Bette” and Susan Hughes. Other family includes Uncle Charles “Tommy” (Nancy) Rogan, aunt Gloria Wehner, nephew Christopher (Liz) Sherry, and nieces Kathryn “Kate” Sherry and Elizabeth Hughes, Christopher’s children Osten and Paulina Sherry, and numerous Hughes family and Rogan family cousins in Kenosha and throughout the US. She was preceded in death by her parents Marcella Catherine (Rogan) and Richard James Hughes, nephew Thomas Whitford, niece Josie Sherry, and beloved uncles, aunts and cousins. |
