Service Date: May 1, 2017 Funeral services honoring Michael’s life will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 7300-39th Ave. Entombment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. |

Michael Castellano, died on April 25, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 92. He was born in Chicago on August 2, 1924, the only child of the late Martino and Anne (Marangi) Castellano. On November 24, 1945 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Phyllis Albano. Michael served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 5th Armored Division under Gen. George S. Patton. He saw action in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Silver Star and Three Overseas Service Bars. For many years he owned and operated M & M Food Mart in Cicero, IL. He then was a Commodity Trader on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange for over 50 years. Michael was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Phyllis; his three children, Martin (Linda) Castellano, Ann Falco, and Concetta (David) Rinaldi; eleven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and his brother in law and sister in law, Paul and Ann Burlingham. Along with his parents and his mother and father in law Antonio and Concetta Albano, Mike was preceded in death by his son Anthony Castellano. |
