Robert F. Meyer, age 92, of Kenosha, passed away at Aurora Medical Hospital of Burlington on Tuesday, March 7, 2017. Born in Kenosha on June 15, 1924, he was the son of the late William and Josephine (Reckinger) Meyer. Robert proudly served as a Sergeant in the US Army during World War II. After the War, he worked at American Motors for a time while starting up a mink ranch with his brother, Kenneth. For over 40 years, the brothers were in business as Meyer Brothers Mink Ranch. On October 11, 1947, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Robert was united in marriage to Harriet Alisauskas. They were blessed with two children and 63 years of marriage before Harriet passed away on December 5, 2010. Robert traveled extensively with his wife for the mink business, as well as on golf excursions. They traveled both domestically and internationally, which they truly enjoyed. They had a very close knit group of friends that would get together weekly for many, many years. In retirement, golf was a big part of his life. He also enjoyed gardening and was proud of having landscaped his home. Mostly, however, the grandchildren were his pride and joy. He will be deeply missed by his children, Roberta (Michael) Glembocki of Franklin, WI, and Christine Meyer of New York, NY; his grandchildren, Bret (CarrieAnn) Glembocki and Janell (Patrick) Brock; his grandchild, Weylan Glembocki, and two nieces and a nephew. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth. Special thanks go out to the staff at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove, WI, for their loving care of Robert during his last few years. |
