Service Date: March 11, 2017 A Memorial Service honoring John’s life will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 12:00 noon at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue. Full military honors will follow the service. Private inurnment will take place in St. George Cemetery. |

John C. “Smoke John” Johanowicz, age 92 of Kenosha, died on Friday, March 3, 2017 at United Hospital System – St. Catherine’s Campus. Born in Kenosha on March 26, 1924, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Seroka) Johanowicz. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Kenosha High School. From April 24, 1943 until his honorable discharge as Corporal on January 29, 1946, John served our country in the U.S. Airforce during WWII. In 1966, he was united in marriage to Ann Kuchera. After 28 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on July 21, 1994. John, along with his brother Joe were owners of Timber Ridge Restaurant. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, P.L.A.V. Post #34, Eagles Aerie #1055 in Kenosha and the Silver Dollar Club. He was an avid crossword puzzle solver and enjoyed spending his leisure time betting on the horses and greyhounds. He is survived by his brother, Joseph Johanowicz; his two sisters, Mary Sczepanski and Josephine Troglin; his step-son, George Chart; and his loving niece and nephews.
