Kenneth E. “Kenny” Kopesky, age 69 of Kenosha, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at his home in Naples, FL. Kenny was born in Kenosha on July 11, 1947 to the late John and Irma (O’Drobinak) Kopesky. He was educated in the schools of Kenosha. In 1967, when he was 19, Kenny enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was discharged in 1970 with the rank of Sergeant. Following the military, Ken joined the Kenosha Police Department in 1970 and was promoted to Detective 15 years later. After 42 years of service, he retired from the force in 2012. On April 21, 2001 he was united in marriage to Carrie Stenholt. Kenny cared immensely about others. In some respect it was his life’s mission and dedication to looking out for others. He enjoyed lifting weights to classic rock music, watching classic movies, or rolling up his swim trunks and laying out next to the pool enjoying the sunshine. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Carrie; his children, Louis (Susan) Kopesky, Courtney (Daniel) Sperer, Chad (Cate) Halvorsen, and Cole Halvorsen; grandchildren, Vanessa, Alle, Brynn, and Claire; four brothers, Bobbie (Karen), John, Tommy, and Jimmy (Lisa) Kopesky; and three sisters, Joan Mutchler, Diane Smith, and Nancy (Pat) Hubbard. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Louis. He affected many, will be missed by many more, but in the end, we all have smiles to share.
