James J. Seliga, age 67 of Kenosha, passed on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at his residence. Born in Kenosha on December 28, 1949, he was the son of the late Stephen and Hedwig (Prostko) Seliga. Jim attended St. Casimir’s Grade School and was a 1968 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Carthage College. From 1968 to 1974, he honorably served our country in the United States Army and achieved the rank of Sergeant. After beginning his career in real estate working for IJ Bear, he transitioned to the lumber and building industry where he dedicated much of his life. He was employed with City Lumber, Southport Lumber, Big Buck and Stock Building until his retirement. In his younger days, Jim was a bass guitarist in the local band circuit. He was a member of The Fabulous Fury’s and Freeway. He was a former member of the Rotary Club of Kenosha-West. Jim loved his family and adored his grandchildren. Many happy memories were made taking his family on vacations, camping and taking car trips. He was an avid Packer and Brewer fan. He enjoyed running, biking, racquetball and handball. He liked playing baseball in his younger years and was thrilled to pitch a No Hitter. Jim was also known to be quite artistic, creating many handcrafted items that included pottery, stained-glass and sketches. He will always be remembered by his two children Christopher (Kelly) Seliga and Rachel (Joseph) Heidel; his five grandchildren, Christopher and Ava Seliga, Brittney Seliga-Reget, Maxwell Tindall and Myles Heidel; his brother, Stephen (Kathleen) Seliga; his former wife, Gail Foreman; and his nieces and numerous other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dolores (James) Ruggaber.
