Irene D. Spaulding, age 89 of Kenosha died on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Brookside Care Center.
Born in Kenosha on January 29, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ollie
(Fourtner) Frederich.
Irene attended Lincoln Jr. High School and Gateway Technical College where she learned cooking and seamstress skills.
On March 27, 1943 in Kenosha she was united in marriage to Harvey Spaulding.
Irene enjoyed sewing, traveling and camping in their Winnebago. She was a member of the Winnebago Camping Club and the Trail Runners Camping Club. She was declared “Queen for a Day” through a national radio program held in Chicago in 1951. She also volunteered for Kenosha Hospital making puppets for children. She was a wonderful cook. But, she will be best remembered as a terrific mother to her two daughters and a wonderful cook.
Irene will be missed by her husband of 71 years, Harvey Spaulding; her two daughters, Clara (Alan) Barry and Linda Spaulding; her two grandchildren, Beth (Chad) Staus and Mike (Jackie) Barry; and her three great grandchildren, Max and Mia Barry, and Pearl Staus. Irene is further survived by her siblings, Elsie (Vern – Deceased) Squires, and Henry (Dorothy) Frederich.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Leona (Don) Lucas.
