Hugo “Oogie” Ramacci, age 90, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, August 23, 2014. His family was by his side.
Hugo was born to the late Raffaele and Antonia (Pasquali) Ramacci on September 13, 1923, in Kenosha, WI. He attended local schools and graduated from Bradford High School in 1942.
Upon graduation, in 1943, he entered the Army Air Force. After training as an airplane technician, he was stationed in Great Bend, Kansas, where he honorably served until 1946.
On August 4, 1954 in Dubuque, IA, Hugo was married to Patricia A. Johnson. They were married for 60 years, and raised a family of four daughters. As a family, they took many fun trips and vacations. Sunday afternoons in the summer were usually spent at the lake with family and friends.
As a young man, he worked in his family’s grocery business with his brother and sister. He then worked at American Motors Corporation for 37 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a member and usher at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a long-time member of the Italian American Society.
He always enjoyed his golf and bowling leagues with his friends. Many favorite memories include dances, social gatherings, bowling a perfect game, and annual golf trips to Biloxi, MS. In his retirement years, he enjoyed gardening, making pasta, and baking his family’s biscotti recipe.
Hugo is survived by his loving wife, Patricia A. Ramacci; his daughters, Rita Ramacci, Theresa (James) Lauder, and Laurie (Scott) Noegel; his sister, Eda Hoff; and his niece, Jinine (Bob) Giese.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Angelo; and his stepdaughter, Sandra Gotsche.
