George A. Ruhle

George A. Ruhle, age 90 of Pleasant Prairie, earned Eternal Rest and was reunited with his wife on Friday, November 25, 2016.

Born in Birnamwood, WI on July 25, 1926, he was one of nine children born to the late Joseph and Theresa (Staudenmaier) Ruhle, Sr. He attended Dublin School; a small four room school located in Pleasant Prairie.

George caught the eye of a beautiful singer, Catherine DeAngelis. They were happily married on August 25, 1951. After 62 years of marriage, Catherine preceded him in death on July 23, 2014.

At the young age of 17, George began working for Nash/AMC Motors as a sweeper. His job was an important part of his life and he was an exceptional provider to his family. After devoting 42 years of service, George retired as a vehicle driver in 1985. Over the years he always enjoyed conversations with his fellow “Motors” friends.

He was a faithful member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. For many years, George’s pussy willows and redwood were used to decorate the church for holidays.

Until the time of his death, George always remembered the path of his Ruhle namesake to our area. He had many happy memories living in South Kenosha and loved his homestead. There was no other place he would rather be. He and his “Pa” played an important part in developing Tobin Creek. With a shovel and their own hands they dug the creek basically making what it is today.   George loved working outside, tinkering and gardening. He always shared his bountiful harvests with his family and friends.

George was a hardworking, strong willed, simple man. He was a great story teller and proud of his many accomplishments. George was always willing to lend a helping hand and he could tell you how things should be done and how to do them. He helped many family members, friends and neighbors dig basements, make block structures, garages and several houses.

He will always be remembered by his three children, Karen (Robert Peterson) Ruhle-Peterson, David (Debby) Ruhle, Sr. and Julie (Danny Galvin) Ruhle; two siblings, Betty Weinberger and Eugene (Jennie) Ruhle; four grandchildren, David (Angie) Ruhle, Jr., Matthew Ruhle, Sarah (Ryan) Nichols and Stephanie Ruhle; eight great grandchildren; his brothers-in-law, Bud Hillesland and Anthony (Judy) DeAngelis; his sisters-in-law, Opal Ruhle, Madeline Haubrich, Sandra (Joseph) Bisciglia, Sr. and Gloria Peterson; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Lydia Badham, Adolph Ruhle, Elizabeth Drah, Bertha Hillesland, Joseph Ruhle and Edna Pringle; his brothers-in-law, Clyde Badham, Henry Weinberger, Isador Drah, John Pringle and Donald DeAngelis; and his sister-in-law, June Ruhle.

George’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff of Brookdale of Kenosha. You all went above and beyond for Dad and always treated him and us with love and respect. You will never be forgotten.
