Service Date: October 5, 2016 Funeral Services honoring the life of Chet will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720-39th Ave., Kenosha, WI. Interment will follow in St. George Cemetery with full military honors. |

Chester “Chet” Minkowski, age 93, of Kenosha, died on Saturday, October 1, 2016 surround by his loving family at Hospice Alliance Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie, WI. He was born on May 4, 1923, son of the late Joseph and Victoria (Markiewicz) Minkowski. Chet attended local schools and graduated with a Business Degree from UW Madison and a life member of the WI Alumni Association. Chet proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II in 1943 was honorably discharged in 1946. On October 13, 1951, Chet was united in marriage to Irene Neubauer. They were married for almost 65 years. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, Chet owned and operated Chester Electronics for 65 years with stores in Kenosha, Waukegan and Florida. Electronics were intriguing and he was an amateur radio operator since the age of 12. Chet was a smart business man who also had ventures with Chet & Ed’s Steak House until 1961, Lafayette Electronics and Chester’s Storage. A member of the former St. Casimir Catholic Church, Chet was a life member of the P.L.A.V. He will forever be remembered for his undying love for his wife, Irene; his children, Cheryl (Jeff) McDonell, Gary (Cheryl) Minkowski, Robert (Terri) Minkowski, Caryn Lindow and Eric (Michelle Robillard) Minkowski; his grandchildren, Kevin (Heather) McDonell, Mathew McDonell, Dr. Kristin Minkowski, Dr. Lisa Minkowski and Thomas Minkowski; his great grandson, Colin McDonell and a sister, Irene Oblen. Along with his parents, Chet was preceded in death by a brother in law, Ed Oblen and a son in law, Terry Lindow. Chet’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff on the 2nd and 5th floor of the United Hospital System- Kenosha Campus and to the staff at Hospice Alliance, Inc. for all of the love and support they provided to their loving, husband, father and grandfather. |
