Betty B. Hodal, age 90 of Kenosha, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at her residence.
Born in Kenosha on December 29, 1923 she was the last surviving child born to the late James and Frances (Schultz) Haber.
Betty attended local schools, Normal School in Union Grove, and in 1962, she received her Bachelor’s Degree from Dominican College.
On June 25, 1949 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Edward Hodal. He preceded her in death on September 2, 1970.
For 20 years, Betty was employed as a teacher at Jefferson Elementary and Curtis Strange Elementary, retiring in 1987.
Betty was a very faithful member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and was a Charter Member of their Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Woman’s Club, Catholic Woman’s Club, Trinity Seniors, the Senior Chorus, KCREA, Friends of Hawthorn Hollow and she was a docent at the Kenosha History Center.
Survivors include her two sons, Gary (Sandy) and Larry (Peggy) Hodal; her daughter, Annette (Mike) Hamburg; and her grandchildren, Megan (Rich) Fedor, Kristin Hamburg, and Aaron (Tabitha) Hamburg; and her great granddaughter, Natalia Fedor. She is further survived by her life-long friend, Ann Koprowicz.
Along with her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her three brothers, James, Paul, and Richard Haber; her four sisters, Esther Skurski, Margaret Nolan, Frances Rizzo and Joan Chodoronek; along with several siblings in infancy.
