Betty G. Hansen, 94, of Kenosha, died on February 10, 2016, at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie. Born on September 19, 1921, in Menomonie, WI, she was the daughter of the late Bert E. and Effie (Curtis) Brunn. Betty grew up in Menomonie and was educated in their local schools. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education from Eau Claire State Teachers College in 1943. While starting her teaching career in Wausau, she met Carl P. Hansen, Jr. They were united in marriage on September 11, 1948, at First Methodist Church in South St. Paul, MN. They were blessed with 58 years of marriage before he passed away in May of 2007. After they moved their family to Kenosha in 1960, she restarted her career as a 2nd grade teacher at Wilson and then with Curtis A. Strange Elementary Schools, retiring in 1985, after 25 years. She loved reading, gardening and traveling around the country with her husband. She also enjoyed her four granddaughters and eight great grandchildren. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Kenosha County Retired Education Association, WREA and The Pilgrim John Howland Society, Inc. Betty is survived by a daughter, Linda (Randy) MacDonald of Hemet, CA; two sons, Patrick (Joan) Hansen of Loudon, TN and David (Ranae) Hansen of Bristol, WI; four granddaughters, Michelle Hansen, Rhonda (Kevin) Fonk, Angela (Ned) Kennedy and Amy (Nick) Madison and eight great grandchildren. She is further survived by three sisters, Dorothy Bennett, Evelyn Fleming and Phyllis Brunn and a brother-in-law, Russell Goodman, all from the St. Paul, MN area. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Valeria Goodman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial remembrances to Hospice Alliance, 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie,WI 53158. Betty’s family would like to give their thanks to the staff and volunteers of the Hospice House for providing incredible comfort and peaceful rest to Betty in her final days.
