Service Date: November 24, 2015 Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 beginning with a prayer service at 9:15 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Ave., Kenosha. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2224 45th Street. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. |

Richard J. “Frenchy” Lequia, age 82 of Kenosha passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Hospice House, Pleasant Prairie, WI. Born in Racine on December 3, 1932 he was a son of the late William and Lillian (Urhausen), Lequia,Sr. On September 8, 1956 at St. Mark Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Tenuta. They were blessed with 59 years of marriage. He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era. Frenchy was employed as a clerk with the U.S. Post Office in Racine. An active member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, he enjoyed singing in the Holy Rosary choir and was an active volunteer with the annual church festival. He and Mary Jane also sang with the combined St. Mark and Holy Rosary choir. Frenchy was an enthusiastic Minnesota Viking fan, an avid horseshoe player, enjoyed fishing, and played Sheepshead with various card clubs weekly. For many years, he was known as the go-to repair man for lawn mowers and snow blowers. Richard is survived by his wife Mary Jane; his children, Michael (Deborah) Lequia, Anthony (Lisa) Lequia Sr. and Michelle Veselik; his seven grandchildren, Steven (Veronica) Lequia, Amanda Lequia, Joseph (Michelle) Lequia, Brian Lequia, Jennifer (Jon) Meyer of Eau Claire, WI; Jessica (Jeremy) Ostrander and Charles Veselik, and 3 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister Beverly Sholzen, his brother Fred (Mary) Lequia of Sun City, CA; his sister in law, Betty (James) Paul and his sister in law, Linda Tenuta as well as several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Along with his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his grandson, Anthony Lequia, Jr.; three brothers, William Jr., Donald, and Al Lequia: a sister, Shirley Durbin, and a brother in law, Robert A.Tenuta.
