Harriet L. Stoffle

Harriet L. Anderson Stoffle, age 87, formerly of Kenosha, died on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in Surprise, AZ.

Born on September 30, 1928 in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Hazel L. (Eddy) Crow.

Harriet was educated in Kenosha attending Bain Elementary, Washington Junior High and graduated from Mary D. Bradford in 1947.

On October 16, 1948 at First United Methodist Church, she was married to Richard H. Anderson.  They were blessed with 20 years together until his untimely death on April 17, 1969. Following this unfortunate loss of her husband, her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Herbert Haubrich became her support team. On May 2, 1998 she married John E. Stoffle at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Racine.

She worked at the AMC employment office right out of high school and then in the AMC aircraft division, cost accounting department when her husband, Richard, entered the Army in 1952. In the 60’s she worked for Borland Jewelers. Later, Harriet attended GTI, taking business courses. She worked as a clerk for Kenosha County for 17 years in the offices of the County Treasurer, Clerk of Courts and the County Clerk, retiring in 1991.

Harriet was an active member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed dancing, reading, gardening and crossword puzzles.

She lived in Mount Pleasant for 8 years, returning to Kenosha following her second marriage, and then residing in Pleasant Prairie. In June of 2014 she moved to Surprise, AZ for medical reasons.

Harriet is survived by her husband, John; her two sons, Charles (Debbie) of Harker Heights, TX and William of Vincennes, IN; six grandchildren, and many great grandchildren nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and first husband, Richard, she was preceded in death by her brothers Gordon and Harold and her sisters, Elizabeth, Lucille and Dorothy Haubrich.
