Leon G. Spitzer, age 98 of Kenosha died on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Home, Union Grove. Born on January 13, 1917, in Waterbury, CT, he was the son of the late Gustav and Eda (Teifert) Spitzer. From October 7, 1942, until his honorable discharge on December 10, 1945, Leon honorably served our country during World War II in the Army Air Corp. On July 19, 1941 at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church he was united in marriage to Eleanor Marschner. Sadly, after 71 years of marriage, Eleanor preceded him in death on October 9, 2012. Leon was employed at AMC/Chrysler Corporation for over 30 years retiring in 1975 in the Machine Repair Department. He was a devoted member of Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ken-Wis Club. Leon enjoyed golfing and was involved with various golf leagues. His true passion was fishing; and was extremely proud of his prize winning catch at Coho Rama. Leon was a football fan who loved cheering on the Green Bay Packers as a season ticket holder since 1958. He embraced his German heritage by listening and dancing to Polka Music. For 30 years, Leon and Eleanor spent their winters at their home in Zephyrhills, FL. Leon is survived by two daughters, Loretta (James) Kallas and Diana (Dean) VanDaalwyk; three grandchildren, Cara (Ron) Ancevic, Christiaan (Erin) VanDaalwyk and Cass (Nathan) Schultz; seven great grandchildren, Alec and Julia Ancevic, Eleanor and Evelyn VanDaalwyk, Isaac, Elise and Audrey Schultz, and his sister, Gladys Kreuscher. In addition to his parents and wife, Leon was preceded in death by four sisters, Alma Shellenberger, Elsie Bruhnke, Doris Hollenbeck and Evelyn Pedersen.
