Joseph Lesnik, age 98 of Kenosha, died on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Brookside Care Center.
Born on March 21, 1916 in Shenandoah, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Albina (Matazinski) Lesnik. As an infant, he came to Kenosha with his parents and received his education in local schools. He was a graduate of Kenosha High School.
He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of E Company, 111th Infantry serving in the European Theatre. Joe was a proud recipient of the Purple Heart.
On November 7, 1941 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Dorothy Tracy. After 65 years of marriage, she sadly preceded him in death on May 26, 2007.
For 43 years, Joe was employed as a machine operator with McWhyte Wire Rope Co.
Joe was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and a member of the former St. Casimir Parish. He was also a member of both the McWhyte Club and the 25 Year Club.
His survivors include his three nephews, James, John (Carol) & Joseph (Jane) Lesnik; five great-nieces and nephews; and six great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Lesnik; a great nephew, Michael Lesnik and a niece, Barbara Lesnik.
