Ronald W. Roepke, age 80 of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Brookside Care Center.
Born in Burlington on July 6, 1934, he was the son of the late Roy and Thelma Roepke.
On October 14, 1954, Ron enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served until his discharge on September 28, 1956.
On August 27, 1960, at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, he was married to Margaret Gerhardt.
For 19 years, Ron was employed as a Process Engineer with Chrysler Corporation, retiring in 1989.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, biking, cross country skiing and traveling with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Margaret Roepke of Salem; his two children, Craig (Patricia) Roepke of Pleasant Prairie and Karen (Hunter) Johnson of Burlington; his four grandchildren, Daniel Roepke, Kevin Roepke, Braeden Johnson and Baylor Johnson; and his two nephews, Landy and Todd Roepke.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister in law, Roger and Viola Roepke.
The Roepke family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Brookside Care Center and the Kidney Center at St. Catherine Hospital. Margaret would like to personally thank her family and friends for their continued support through Ron’s lengthy illness.
