Margaret E. (Marge) Ungemach, passed from this life, peacefully and in the blessed hope of resurrection in Christ to eternal life, at Brookdale of Kenosha, Wisconsin. Margaret Erna Scharf was born on a farm in Dodge County, Wisconsin on April 24, 1931 to William C. A. and Josephine E. M. (Zahn) Scharf. She was adopted into the family of God in the waters of Christian baptism on May 17, 1931 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brownsville, Wisconsin. On March 25 of 1945 Margaret publicly confessed her faith in Christ in the rite of Christian Confirmation at the church of her baptism. She was joined in Christian marriage to Edward C. Ungemach, Jr. on June 11 of 1955 also at Saint Paul in Brownsville. She was born unto eternal life on Wednesday morning, May 27 of 2015. Young Margie grew up on a farm near Brownsville, Wisconsin where she first attended the rural public elementary school and then finished her grade school years at St. Paul’s Lutheran School of Brownsville. She attended Winnebago Lutheran Academy of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin until graduating in May of 1949. She attended Bethany Lutheran College of Mankato, Minnesota receiving an associate degree and teaching certification in May of 1951. She was then assigned to teach third grade at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran School of Kenosha, Wisconsin. She taught at Friedens, where she met her future husband, until their marriage in 1955. Both Marge & Eddie would serve their Savior and their beloved congregation in many capacities throughout the rest of their lives. Margaret served as a substitute teacher and volunteered in many educational and service capacities at Friedens and Shoreland Lutheran High School. She was a member of the Friedens Ladies Aid and the Shoreland Ladies Guild. She was a fixture for almost fifty years in the alto section of Friedens Mixed Choir and as a soloist for weddings and funerals. She defined the word homemaker for her husband, children and grandchildren with her tireless cooking, canning, baking and her artistry as a seamstress. Margaret is survived by her children Laura (Michael) Loescher of Osceola, Kristina (David) Paustian of Racine, Margaret Ungemach of Burlington, Miriam (John) Paustian of West Bend, Edward (Amy) Ungemach III of Trevor and Joel (Carrie) Ungemach of Manitowoc, her seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren; her sister-in-law Marjory Scharf of Lomira, Wisconsin; her sister-in-law Marian Wallig of Kenosha; her brother-in-law Eugene (Ingrid) Ungemach of Palm Coast, Florida; and by many nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Edward C. Ungemach, Jr.; by her parents, her husband’s parents, by her brothers John and Len Scharf and Len’s wife Mary, her husband’s siblings Richard, Dorothy, Robert, Elmer and Donald and a number of nieces and nephews. The Ungemach family wishes to especially thank both Brookdale Kenosha and Brookdale Pleasant Prairie as well as the amazing staff of Hospice Alliance for their kind and loving care of Margaret in her final years. A thank you also to Pastors David Rockhoff, Thomas Meissner and Michael Gorte for their very faithful and blessed visitation ministry.
