It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Louis McGowan Sr., who left us on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the age of 86. Born in Illinois on June 29, 1938, to Frederick and Marjorie (Smith) McGowan. Robert made his home in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where he created a life full of love, joy, and unforgettable memories. On March 30, 2007, he was united in marriage to Linda L. Mueller. Robert retired from the Kenosha Post Office after 32 years of devoted service. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Robert served his country from June 30, 1955, to July 10, 1958. His passion for life extended beyond his military service; he was an avid fan of both the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs, known for his unwavering loyalty to his teams. Robert had a creative spirit, expressing himself through playing guitar and painting, often found lost in the music or captivated by his canvas. He also had a wild side, enjoying the thrill of riding his beloved Harley motorcycle. His three dogs-Maggie, Mimi, and Fritz-were never far from his side, and they brought him endless joy. Robert was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Linda McGowan, and a proud father to his daughters, Lani (Jay) McGovern, Laura (Brett) McGovern, and Christine McGowan, and son, Robert McGowan Jr. He cherished his role as a grandfather to his six grandsons: Logan, Caden, Lee, Robert III, and Brandon, and his love for them was evident in everything he did. He also leaves behind his loving sisters, Judith Donat and Kathleen McGowan who will remember him fondly. Robert Louis McGowan Sr. lived a life rich with love and laughter, and he will be profoundly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the joy of music, painting, and the open road. Robert was preceded in death by: his parents, Frederick McGowan and Marjorie McGowan; son, Russ Lee; sister, Marilyn Eidsvoog and brothers, Frederick McGowan, James McGowan and William McGowan.
