John P. “Jack” Bruns, age 82 of Kenosha, died on Monday, October 20, 2014, at UNC Health Center, Chapel Hill, NC.
Born in Kenosha on January 24, 1932, he was the son of the late George J. and Marguerite A. (McIntosh) Bruns, Sr. He was educated in local schools and was a graduate from Bradford High School
From 1951 to 1955, he was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and honorably served as a B-29 gunner/scanner and C-124 loadmaster after his overseas duty.
On January 21, 1956, at St. George Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to Joan Alice Bennett. Sadly, after 28 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on October 18, 1984.
For 31 years, Jack was employed as an installer with Wisconsin Bell / AT&T, retiring in July, 1987.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the Loyal Order of the Moose, Kenosha Lodge #286 since 1960. Jack served several terms on the Moose Lodge Board of Officers as Secretary/Administrator and in 1979 he received the highest Moose Degree; the Pilgrim Degree and also received the Honorary Lodge Governor award.
Jack also served as a Cub Scout Cubmaster and was on the on Boy Scout committee at St. George Catholic Church, he was a life member of Air Resupply and Communications Association, an honorary life member of the Communication Workers of America (CWA) and life member of the Telephone Pioneers, Kenosha Chapter.
Jack is survived by his three sons, Michael J., Richard P. (Judy), and Timothy A. (Margaret) Bruns; his daughter, Laura A. (Kervin) Lehrke; ten grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He is further survived by his life companion, Donna R. Rasch.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother George J. Bruns in November, 1993.
