Entombment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park, Racine, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to the family are appreciated. |
Polly Anastasia Christy, 99, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Primrose (formally the Addison) Retirement Community in Pleasant Prairie, WI. She was born on November 30, 1925, the daughter of Tom and Toula Karavakis of Waupaca, WI. Polly attended schools in Waupaca and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ripon College in 1944. On December 27, 1948, Polly was united in marriage to Sam P. Christy at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Waupaca, WI. He preceded her in death on January 14, 2015. After their marriage, Polly and Sam moved to Kenosha to raise their family and begin their teaching careers. Polly was an elementary school teacher at Sunnyside (now Grewenow) School for 23 years, retiring in 1989. Upon retiring, Polly and Sam enjoyed painting, traveling and building their dream house on Paddock Lake. There they enjoyed watching their grandchildren grow up, as well as family celebrations time on their deck and enjoying all the joys of lake life. She was a member of Kimissis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, Racine, WI. Polly is survived by her son, Peter (Susan) Christy of Pleasant Prairie, WI and her daughters, Janice (Joseph) Sielski of Kenosha, WI and Nancy Schiro of Racine, WI. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Joey (Becky) Sielski, Peter (Sara) Christy, Jr., Jason (Katie) Sielski, Thomas (Kimberly) Christy, Jenna (Dan) Matteucci, Samantha (Travis) Kraft, Daniel (Madeline) Schiro and eighteen great-grandchildren. Polly is further survived by her brother, John Karavakis, of Woodstock, IL. In addition to her husband and parents, Polly was preceded in death by her brother, Tom (Ally) Karavakis of Waupaca, WI. The family would like to thank the staff at Heartland Hospice and Primrose of Pleasant Prairie for all the loving, compassionate care that Polly was given. |
