A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 9091 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. A visitation for Velia will be held from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass at the church. |

Velia Zappa, age 91, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Rota Greca,Cosenza, Italy on November 7, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Orestino and Assuntina (Ruffolo) Carnevale. On December 8, 1957 in Rota Greca she was united in marriage to Domenico Zappa. They came to America in 1966. Velia was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking, casino trips, playing cards, an avid Green Bay Packers fan, cooking Sunday dinners with family and spending time with her 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Survived by her two daughters, Modestina (Roger) Resch and Loredana Zappa; four grandchildren, Jessica (Shaun) Fahrenkrug, Dillon (Kaite) May, Cody May, and Annalizza Resch; 5 great grandchildren, Michael Croox, Maxim Resch, Aubriella May, Harper Fahrenkrug and Adilynn May. Four siblings, Lidia Fiore, Franco Carnevale, Leda Bisceglia and Antonio (Rosetta) Carnevale. In addition to her parents, Velia was preceded in death by her husband, Domenico Zappa, her brother and sister, Joseph Carnevale and Melvina Celebre; her grandson, Joshua Resch. As well as brothers and sisters-in-law Guiseppi Fiore, Giulia Carnevale, Francesco Bisceglia, and Mario Celebre. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice for all of their kind, and loving care provided to Velia. |
