Geraldine Joyce (Gerou) Wiercinski, age 94, passed away at her residence on Monday, March 4, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Baptist and Anna (Shakus) Gerou. She attended St. James Catholic School, Washington Elementary and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School and earned her apprenticeship with Grace Barnes in 1951. On July 15, 1950 in Kenosha, WI, Geraldine was united in marriage to Edward Wiercinski. Geraldine was employed as a Beautician for Madonna Beauty Salon, Cut and Curl Beauty Salon and Charm Beauty Salon, retiring in 2015. She was an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Gerry loved having her regular gatherings with the “Club.” Club members included eight close friends from work who gathered for a monthly luncheon and card game. The Neighborhood Ladies Club included eight close friends who all lived on the same 18th Avenue block. They met monthly at each other’s homes for potluck luncheons. She loved to travel and would do anything that involved any unconventional forms of flight. Geraldine enjoyed cooking and baking cookies or anything else in the kitchen for her kids and neighbor’s, sewing clothes for her children, listening to music especially Frank Sinatra; but most of all; she cherished the time spent with family and especially with her granddaughter. She is survived by her children, Sue Ellen “Wiercinski” Runde, Debra Ann “Wiercinski” (Janee Townsend) Dillon and Thomas Alan (Corinna) Wiercinski and her granddaughter, Heather Marie Runde. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Gerry was preceded in death by her son, David Edward Wiercinski; her siblings, Delores Anna Greenwood, Louis Donald Gerou, June Ann Gerou and James Thomas Gerou and her son-in-law, Timothy Allen Runde. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lisa, Carol and Connie from Hospice Alliance for all of their compassionate, kind and loving care and support given to Geraldine.
