Philip Alan Golle, age 85, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born on December 23, 1937, he was the son of the late Felix P. and Ann C. (Kuharski) Golle. Philip met the love of his life at Jewel in Park Ridge, IL where he worked as a butcher and Mavourneen worked as a cashier. On November 19, 1960, at St. Paul of the Cross in Park Ridge, IL, he was united in marriage to his darling Mavourneen Doherty. Together they raised seven children until her death on August 15, 2016. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Philip and Mavourneen lived most of their lives in Lake Zurich, IL and later moved to Kenosha, WI. He was a devout Christian Catholic and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Philip was very involved in the Catholic Church and faithfully served as a Eucharistic Minister. He helped start the Knight of Columbus at St. Peter’s Catholic Church and was the President of the Lions Club in Lake Zurich, IL. His hands were never idle. He played the slide trombone in the High School band at Lane Tech in Chicago, IL. and also while serving in the Navy. He was very musically inclined as he also played the trumpet, banjo and harmonica many times throughout our childhood. Philip was an eloquent speaker and a hard worker, “there is nothing he couldn’t do”. His self-taught skills as a carpenter gave him the ability to add on an addition to their home along with many renovations. He fixed everything. Most of all, Philip was a devoted Christian family man who was delighted in spending time with his beloved children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. He was employed as a Butcher for Jewel in Park Ridge, then Dominick’s as the meat market manager, a Salesman for Remco, Knickerbocker Toys, Gund Stuffed Animals and part owner of P & R Sales, until his retirement in 2002. Philip leaves behind many joyful memories for all of us. His love of life, his dreams for his children and his love of family and friends. Philip is survived by children, Philip J. Golle, Michelle (Steven) Grady, Monica (Raymond) Kottke, Michael Golle and Mark Golle; his twenty grandchildren and his sixteen great grandchildren with one on the way. In addition to his parents and three siblings Dolores, Lillian, & Howard, Philip was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mavourneen; his son’s Matthew Golle and Andrew Golle, and his buddy shiatzu, Maura.
