Jane was called to heaven, on Monday, September 18, 2023 following a brief illness after being diagnosed with cancer. Born on July 23,1950, the second daughter of John and Mary Alice (Podruch) Krier, Jane had a happy childhood growing up in Belgium, WI. She attended St Mary’s Catholic grade school and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She graduated from Cedar Grove High School, where she played clarinet and piano, enjoyed cheerleading, and attended Badger Girls State after being selected for a leadership program. She graduated with honors. She graduated from UW-Madison earning her master’s degree in art, an achievement she was very proud of. Jane was the activities director, for a nursing home in Port Washington, WI., a job that gave her great satisfaction. Early in her twenties, Jane began her lifelong battle with Paranoid Schizophrenia. Despite the challenges of social isolation and her constant fear of others knowing anything about her life, she was proud she was able to maintain an independent life in her home managing her personal and financial affairs while pursuing her lifelong enjoyment of art, crafting, and collecting. After moving to Kenosha, Jane found support through the Kenosha Youth Development Services. She is survived by her siblings, Patricia (Dan) Zernia, Jack (Kelly) Krier, and Barbara (Dennis) Schmidt and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Alice (Podruch) Krier, and her beloved Uncle Pete Podruch. Her family would like to give a special thanks to the Kenosha Youth Development Services and the Community Support Program, especially Jenny and Cheryl, for their dedicated care for Jane and her family throughout the decades, maintaining a high level of professionalism and compassion, while respecting her cherished privacy. The family would also like to thank the staff of Aurora Hospital ICU, Medical/Surgical, Palliative and Hospice services for their compassionate end of life care. Their professionalism, kindness, and respect for Jane’s special needs was truly appreciated. |
