A Memorial Mass in celebration of Fred’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Sheridan Road & 74th Street. Frederick J. Thielen, II, age 69 of Kenosha, died peacefully at his home with his family and friends by his side on Sunday, February 22, 2015. A lifelong resident of Kenosha he was born on May 28, 1945 and was the son of the late Frederick J. and Sophie (Silwanowich) Thielen, Sr. He attended St. Mark’s School and was a 1963 graduate of St. Joseph High School. Fred received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Russian from Notre Dame in 1968 and his MBA in business from Lake Forest College in 1994. For three years, Fred served in the Peace Corp in the Philippines where he met his lovely wife. On December 20, 1970 in Virac, Catanduanes, Philippines, he was united in marriage to Lourdes Alcalá. They were blessed with two beautiful children and 44 years of marriage. He was employed as a Human Resource/ IS Manager with Hewitt Associates, retiring in 2011. Previously, he was employed with Anaconda/American Brass, Premark International, and Alliant. Fred’s faith was very important to him. He was a lifetime member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. He involved himself in many capacities for the church. He was a member of the St. Mark Robed Choir, past parish council president, parish treasurer trustee and was the church’s liaison to the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. He enjoyed the time he spent performing at the St. Mark’s “Shows-A-Poppin” and was very instrumental in their “Casa” project. He was a worldwide traveler for business and for pleasure with his wife and friends. Fred enjoyed computers, woodworking and playing the piano. Above all, spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren brought him the greatest joy. Fred will be always remembered by his loving wife, Lourdes; his two children, Marilou T. (Jack) Reeder of Wayne, PA and Frederick J. (Dana) Thielen, III of Los Angeles, CA; his three grandchildren, Sophia, Sasha and Annabel Reeder; and his mother-in-law, Soledad Alcalá. He is further survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; and a little furry fella name Aso. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his uncle, Ben; and father-in-law, Fred Alcalá. The family would like to thank Dr. Gary Leo, Dr. Paul Nausieda, Director of the Regional Parkinson Center for providing Fred with the best possible care as he was battling Parkinson Disease. Also a special thank you to Maggie Poniakowski of Compassionate Care Hospice, for helping Fred start his day. |
