ROCKY MOUNT – Vernelle Greene Hiatt, age 82, passed away on April 23, 2022 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Born in Nash County, NC on January 14, 1940 she was born to the late Curtis and Lola (Harper) Greene. She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, James E. Hiatt and her son, Kent Leonard. Vernelle worked for Rocky Mount Sanitarium/Community Hospital for over 40 years in account services. Vernelle enjoyed reading books, watching her soap operas and playing card games with her friends at her senior living campus. Vernelle moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin in 2014 to be with her daughter/husband and grandchildren. Vernelle is survived by her daughter Kathy Leonard Schultze (Jeff), her grandchildren Allyson and Josh Schultze and her feline companion Kane. | |
