A visitation for Russ will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Monday, March 21, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Piasecki Funeral Home, 3720 39th Ave, Kenosha, WI. Russell D. King, 70 years old of Pleasant Prairie, WI passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 17, 2022. Russ was born March 23, 1951 to Paul R. and Wanda M. (McMurry) King in Crawfordsville, IN. He married Deborah M. (Vonderheide) King on August 19, 1972 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Brookville, IN. They were married 49 years. Russ graduated from Linden High School, Vincennes University, Ball State University, and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Russ was a lifelong educator in Kenosha. He began his teaching career at Washington Junior High School. He then taught at Lincoln Junior High School where he also wrote and produced several plays including: “Anne Frank: Eye of the Storm”, “Anna P”, and “Country Ivy”. Russ received the KUSD Distinguished Service Award in 1987. He was named KUSD Teacher of the Year in 1989. Russ was presented the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Award of Excellence Middle/Junior High Teacher of the Year 1989-90. Russ was named the Wisconsin Society of Daughters of the American Revolution Outstanding American History Teacher in 1990. He retired from Tremper High School in 2006. Russ also enjoyed planning special events with KUSD elementary schools as a Cadre Teacher. He was also an adjunct professor for St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. Russ is survived by his wife, Debbie; his daughter, Amy E. (Michael) Ramsey of Grafton, WI; and his son, Adam P. (Christine) King of Kenosha, WI. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Connor Ramsey, Amelia Ramsey, Charlotte Ramsey, Maggie King and Baya King; his brother, Mark E. (Cheryl) King of Grand Haven, MI and many family and friends. In addition to his parents, Russ was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul A. King and James D. King as well as family and dear friends.
