Ella M. Cryer, age 89, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, February 10, 2022 surrounded by her family. Born on December 17, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Augusta and Ortmease (Hayes) Nunnery. She was a member of Pleasant Springs Baptist Church in Magnolia, MS. In 1950, she was united in marriage to Billy Frank Cryer. Ella was employed as a Machine Operator for Fel-Pro in Skokie, IL for 20 years, retiring in 1987. She moved from Mississippi to New York at the age of twenty-two, at the age of forty-one she moved to Chicago until the age of fifty-four where she moved back to Mississippi, then at the age of sixty-three Ella moved to Kenosha making it her home. Ella loved singing as the lead soloist for her church choir, she enjoyed bowling and watching her favorite game shows, Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud and TV show, Walker Texas Ranger. While living in Mississippi, Ella was a dog breeder and backup singer for Motown star Jackie Wilson. Ella is survived by her children, Linda Nunnery, Reva Nunnery and Michelle Nunnery; her grandchildren, Desharon “Dee” Nunnery, Lennon “Juan” Nunnery, Saboris “Bo” Nunnery, Cortez Nunnery, Larry Nunnery, Gabrielle Nunnery and Phillip Lynch; her ten great grandchildren; her siblings, Juanita Nunnery, Pearl Nunnery, Jenifer Spring, Vivian Nunnery, Bobbie Nunnery and Mildred Nunnery and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ella was preceded in death by her former husband, Billy Frank Cryer; her sons, Ray Charles Butler and Jimmy Nunnery; her grandsons, Corey Darnell Nunnery and JJ Nunnery; her sisters, Addine Nunnery and Willette Nunnery O’Lea and her brothers, Augusta Nunnery Jr., Willie Lee Nunnery and Clifton Nunnery. |
