Kristine Roemer

Kristine Roemer, age 62, of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Hospice House, following a fearless battle with cancer.

Born in Kenosha on July 20, 1952 to Gerhard & Rosemary (Sullivan) Roemer, she was the third of eight children.

Kris was a graduate of Tremper High School. After attending UW-Parkside and UW-Whitewater, she enlisted in the Armed Forces.  She was stationed in Fort Hauchca where she attained the rank of Spec. 4 and worked in the Medical Lab Unit from 1973 until 1976. It was there that she met and married William Moore.

After being discharged from the service, Kris and Will moved briefly to Washington State and later to Alaska, to make their home. Kris spent 10 years in Alaska “selling igloos to the Eskimos.” When the real estate market failed, she and her five year old son, Bill, moved back to her roots in Kenosha.  Kris worked for 30 years as a Mortgage Loan Originator, most recently with Gateway Mortgage, Kenosha’s undisputed #1 mortgage lender. She was known in the professional community as “Miz Mtg”.

She was an active member of Great Lakes Church.  For many years in high school and college, she worked summers with the Kenosha Achievement Center at Friendship Camp. She currently extended her support for the KAC with the Kenosha Dream Playground. Kris was very involved in civic activities and was a long standing member of Kenosha Rotary Club.  She held an interest in the downtown community; organizing and heading the committee to save the Elks building.  She served on the Board of Directors for the Girl Scouts and actively worked with Women’s & Children’s Horizons.

Above everything, she loved Jesus, her boy, Bill Moore and her family.  She was an “Entertainer Extraordinaire” and will be remembered for her humor and wit.  Kris enjoyed refurbishing houses, golfing, sailing, and enjoying all the music and events in the downtown area. She loved to laugh and have fun.

Survivors include her loving son, William “Bill” Moore and seven siblings, Sue (Gary) Wirch, Kathy (Marshall) Blomquist, Liz Roemer, Jim (Donna) Roemer, Julie (Hiram) Dela Fuente, Jean (Harry) Chaskey and Tom (Amy) Roemer. She is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews and 9 great nieces and nephews.  Along with her family, she will be missed by a plethora of friends.
