John T. Giles, Jr., age 88 of Kenosha, died in his home on Friday, October 31, 2014.
Born in Peoria, IL on August 15, 1926, he was the son of the late John T. and Mary (Myers) Giles, Sr. He attended local schools and was a graduate from Mary D. Bradford High School.
On February 28, 1958 in Elmhurst, IL, he was united in marriage to Ellen Mae Wallace.
John was employed as a skilled trade electrician for AMC/Chrysler Corporation, retiring in 1991. He always loved to learn new things and would keep up to date with many electrical codes and procedures by taking various electrical courses. John also earned a degree in hotel/motel management and briefly owned a motel in Danville, KY.
He was a member of the IBEW Local #150, Tesla Society, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Navy Club Ship #40, World Explorers, Kenosha Genealogy, the Sons of American Revolution (SAR) and Kenosha Flying Sportsmen.
John was a great story teller from way back when. His many stories kept everyone in their seats. He received a Black Belt in Judo and enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ellen Giles; his two sons, Tom (Donna) and Bruce (Paula) Giles; his four daughters, Cathy Smith, Bette (Todd) Heyden, Nancy (Verne) Wolfe and Colleen Giles; his grandchildren, Chad, Amy, Jessica, Jude, Tanya, Amy, Vanessa, Crystal, Tasha, Wayne, Miranda, Karina, AJ, Stephanie, Dustin, Logan, Cameron, Mariah, Jeremy, Joseph, Melissa and Don; 43 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. John is further survived by his brother, James (Darlene) Giles; his sister, Joyce (Hank) McNellis; his aunt, Martha Clay; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and his two grandkitties, Capone and Rum Tum.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Lori Pierce and Kitty Koski; his brother, Herbert Giles; his sisters, Virginia West and Mary Lou Michetti; his grandson, Anthony Giles; and his granddaughter, Jennifer Giles.
