Alice Marie Waller, age 92, went to her heavenly home on August 16, 2021; peacefully listening to the melody of bird song in the company of her family and her comforting caregiver, Toni. Born on July 28, 1929 in Dickey, North Dakota, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Van and Effie Mae (Roscoe) Black. At the age of four, Alice and her family moved to Rosedale, Indiana. Alice grew up in Rosedale with her siblings, Rudy, Bob, Don, Leatha and Nola. Alice graduated from Rosedale High School. She attended Indiana State Teachers College where she studied English, and in her spare time took flying lessons learning to fly a Piper Cub. She always told us her favorite part of learning to fly was doing loop ‘de loops. On September 25, 1951 Alice married Charles E. Waller in Rosedale, Indiana. They shared many wonderful years together until Charles’ passing in 2002. They raised 9 children together. Alice is survived by her children, Charles, “Rick” (Debra) Waller, Rachel Waller (Rory Cunningham), Patricia (Tom) Lee, Michael Underhill (Maria Lundstrum), Rebecca Stevens, Robert (Lori) Underhill, Sarah (Greg), Laura (Bill) Whitney. She was preceded in death by her son, Samuel; her sister, Rudy and her brother, Bob. Alice was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a light in her life and she smiled, laughed, and was filled with joy in their presence. Alice loved life, she always saw the best in others! She had a great sense of humor. She was a voracious reader and was a lifelong learner. She was a faithful student of The Bible and studied it with her heart, mind and spirit. It gave her great joy to sing and play the organ while her children sang along. She is now singing with the angels.
