April 10, 1951 - February 25, 2021 Service Date: March 4, 2021 SERVICE LOCATION Piasecki Funeral Home Funeral services honoring Marie’s life will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 12:00 p.m at Piasecki Funeral Home 3720 39th Avenue. A visitation for Marie will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. The visitation and service may be viewed via livestream on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at on the following link facebook.com/PiaseckiFuneralHome/live/. You do not need Facebook to watch. Private interment will be held in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to Cassandra Chatman. Due to public health concerns, and in compliance with CDC guidelines, only 50 people will be permitted to enter the funeral home at one time. For safety of our guests, you may be asked to wait outside. Social distancing will be maintained and those in attendance are required to wear a face covering. Marie Chatman, age 69, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Natchez, Mississippi on April 10, 1951, Marie was the daughter of the late James Chatman and Frances Cain. Marie attended schools in Mississippi and graduated from DePaul University in Chicago, IL, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. Throughout life, she worked in customer service for Walmart for 5 years, prepared taxes for H & R Block for 15 years, and as a substitute teacher for Kenosha Unified School District No. 1 for 15 years. While working as an IT specialist, she was with the Sears Corporation for 36 years, and retired in 2006. Having many interests, Marie enjoyed spending time at the casino, listening to music and playing the piano, stepping, being on a bowling league, was known to be the mac & cheese Queen and loved her annual family reunions. She was also a choir pianist and director for Coleman Chapel AME Church, was a member of the Board of Trustees with Coleman Chapel AME Church, and on the Finance Committee for Coleman Chapel AME Church. Marie will be dearly missed by her daughter, Cassandra Chatman; her sisters, Doretha Holmes of Houston, Tx; Rosetta Myles of Natchez, MS; Frances Lorraine Chatman of Kenosha, WI; her brothers, Frank James and Roosevelt (Joann) Chatman of Natchez, MS; Nathaniel Chatman of Ferguson, MO; Charles Edward (Mildred) of Kenosha, WI; her God-daughters, Chanette Chatman of Kenosha, WI and Verressia Chatman of Natchez, MS. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas, Robert and Lawrence Chatman. A special thanks to nurses Jordan, Gracie and Soni at the Aurora Medical Center for their amazing attention and care of Marie.
