A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Piasecki Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue. Inurnment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. A gathering of relatives and friends will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to Shriner’s International Headquarters, 3000 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53208 would be appreciated by the family. Christine E. McDermott, age 71, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021. Born in Stillwater, MN on July 15, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Phyllis (Shull) Engebretson. Christine was a graduate of William Kelley High School in Silver Bay, MN. On October 2, 1970, she was united in marriage to Dennis McDermott in Chicago, IL. Their union was blessed with 50 years of marriage and three beautiful children. She was employed with Duluth Clinic and the Bureau of Mines prior to moving to Chicago. While residing in Chicago she was employed with Halls Rental. Christine and Dennis moved to Kenosha where she was employed with American Family Insurance until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Christine enjoyed crocheting, reading and attending sporting events, concerts and performances for her grandchildren; above all else she loved spending time with family. She is survived by her loving husband, Dennis McDermott; her children, Michael (Mary) McDermott, Robert (Heidi) McDermott and Jennifer (Christopher) Froh; her grandchildren, Jackson Davis, William McDermott, Elaina Froh, Marcus McDermott, Samantha McDermott, Marcella Davis and Nolan Froh; her siblings, Connie (Maynard) Manke, Randy (Gail) Engebretson and Lori Hunter; her sisters-in-law, Dianne McDermott, Caroline Engebretson; her brother and sister-in-law, Ted (Kathy) Beth; her nieces and nephews, Brian and Sean McDermott, Kelly Hassenfelt, Mitch and Teri Engebretson, Spencer Manke, Ernie Engebretson, Gina Nowak, Christopher and Andrew Hunter; and her best friend of over 40 years, Janet Pasold. In addition, to her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Erin McDermott; her brother, Bernie Engebretson; her in-laws, John and Dorothy McDermott and her brother-in-law, Bill McDermott. A special thanks to the nurses and staff of Kenosha Hospital 3 Palmer for their compassionate care and grace which allowed our mother peace and dignity. |
