Virginia Marie Polansky, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Kenosha Place Memory Care. Born on July 13, 1925, Virginia was the daughter of the late Sam and Modesta Vite. She was a graduate of Bradford High School. On February 8, 1947, Virginia was united in marriage to Victor F. Pufont. They were blessed with two children and cherished 27 years together until Victor passed away on January 31, 1974. She then married Edwin Polansky on December 10, 1977, sadly, Edwin passed away on May 1, 1990. Virginia was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Virginia worked for a dress designer in Chicago and in the office at Fort Sheridan before she married and had children. After raising her children, she reentered the work force holding a variety of jobs including running her own dressmaking and sewing alteration business. One of her favorite jobs was working at the betting window at Dairyland Race Track for 19 years until they closed in 1990. She was 84 when she retired. Virginia had a zest for life, was a truly generous person, loved to dance and travel. She spent many a winter in Florida, Arizona and one year did an RV caravan throughout Mexico. She loved to visit Las Vegas and Potawatomie Casino. She belonged to a poker club with childhood friends for 70 years. She also belonged to a pinochle club and loved to play bingo. Those left to remember Virginia are her two children, Victor Pufont (Deborah) and Patricia Kolka (Jay); her six grandchildren, Trivia Pufont Vargas (Mike ), Adam Kolka (Kristin), Meagan Pufont Cote (Mark), Jared Kolka, Summer Pufont Austin (Nick) and Kaitlin Kolka (Dan Forde); her 16 great grandchildren; and her sister, Rose Vite Gross. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husbands, Victor F. Pufont and Edwin Polansky.
