Clarice Louise Linstroth of Pahrump, Nevada passed away peacefully near her home on November 5, 2014 under assisted living care and the care of her eldest daughter (Darlene Linstroth). Clarice was just shy of 94 years old.
Clarice was born on November 9, 1920 to Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Joseph & Alwine (nee Hornecker) Gagnon of Somers Township in Kenosha. She was one of nine children. Clarice was married to Robert Earl Linstroth on February 15th, 1939.
Clarice and Robert E. Linstroth are survived by 10 of their twelve children. Daniel & Kimberly [nee Baker] Linstroth (Racine, WI), Donald & Sandi [nee Caron] Linstroth (Oregon, WI), Darlene Linstroth (Pahrump, NV), Delores Linstroth (Wakefield, MI), Robert Linstroth (Racine, WI), Denise [nee Linstroth] Jones (Lakeland, FL), Diane [nee Linstroth] Defatte (Lake George, MN), Debra Linstroth (Corryton, TN), Dale Linstroth (Foley, MN), and Dwayne Linstroth (Racine, WI). In addition to her 10 children, Clarice is survived by 25 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Clarice lived in Racine, WI until 1956 and then moved to Kenosha, WI where she resided for over 40 years prior to moving to Pahrump, NV in 1998 to care for her ailing sister. Clarice was a licensed practical nurse and worked at several local hospitals both in Racine and Kenosha, among them being St. Mary’s and St. Luke’s in Racine, and the Kenosha and St. Catherine’s hospitals in Kenosha. After retirement Clarice continued to practice nursing as a visiting nurse for the elderly until she moved to Pahrump. In addition to her interest in nursing, Clarice had a personal dream of traveling by wagon train to a far destination, emulating what her mother did as a twelve year old girl in 1901. In 1976 Clarice fulfilled that dream by joining the bicentennial wagon train and traveled by horseback from Kenosha, WI to Valley Forge, VA in celebration of our nation’s 200th birthday. She held this as one of her most cherished memories, topped only by her wedding day and the births of her twelve children. Clarice, being a devout Catholic was very active in church activities. She devoted much of her time and energy serving the ministries at St. Anthony’s church in Kenosha, WI and Our Lady of the Valley church in Pahrump, NV. Clarice was a member of the choir at Our Lady of the Valley church and remained a member until she suffered a disabling fall in 2003. No longer able to attend services or activities at the church, Clarice continued to contribute to her fellow citizens by devoting much of her time to knitting (and donating) baby caps and booties to the needy at local hospitals and charities in the Pahrump area, and in the Madison & Oregon, WI areas.
Clarice always put others before herself, believed in the rewards of sacrifice and hard work, always found the time to care for others, carried herself with pride and dignity no matter the trials and tribulations, and oh yes, never forgot to smile. Clarice will be forever lovingly remembered for her strong will, unshakable faith, and her unselfish love and devotion to her family and her community.
Clarice was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years who passed on February 2nd, 1989. Clarice was also preceded in death by her eight siblings.
