Martha Germinaro

Martha Borland (Munro) Germinaro, age 101 of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2020 at Froedtert South-Pleasant Prairie Campus.

Born in Larkhall, Scotland on August 2, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Hector and Agnes (Carr) Munro. Her father came to Kenosha in 1923. In 1924, Martha came to Kenosha with her mother and sister, Betty to join her father.

She attended Grant Elementary School, Washington Junior High and Kenosha High School. During high school Martha worked part-time at Woolworth. After graduating from high school in 1937, she attended Kenosha Vocational School and in later life she attended Gateway Technical College.

On July 11, 1942, at Camp Livingston, LA, she was united in marriage to Michael F. Germinaro. He preceded her in death on January 29, 1999.

She was employed at Coopers/ Jockey International, Simmons Mattress Company and AMC/Chrysler Corp. On March 31, 1979, after 27 ½ years of dedication, Martha retired from AMC.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, “Sodality” and the “Mission” groups of Mt. Carmel. In her earlier days she helped with the churches annual festival and worked in the kitchen with the ladies for the spaghetti dinner.

She was a member of the U.A.W. Local #72 Retirees, The Ke-Nash-A Club and P.L.A.V./Polish League of American Veterans. Martha was a member of the Gateway Technical College Sewing Group, Jefferson School PTA where she was a Past President, the Kenosha High School Class of 1937 Reunion Committee, Press Committee of The Kenosha Labor Paper and for many years Martha was a poll worker.

Martha and her husband, Mike enjoyed attending reunions of the 88^th Division of 5^th Army. For 25 years it gave them a fantastic opportunity to travel all over the USA. They kept in touch and were reacquainted with many wonderful old friends and they developed many new ones. Also, Martha returned to her homeland, Scotland with her husband several times. They loved visiting with cousins and many cousins also came to visit them.

She loved sewing and crafts but her real passion was knitting for her grandchildren and friends. Martha also loved making scarves on her Serger Sewing Machine and she enjoyed giving them to her family and friends. Both Martha and her husband, Mike loved being with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were their pride and joy.

Martha is survived by her children, Robert, (Jayne) of Wausau, Nancy (Geoffrey) Moy of Fremont, CA and Michael of Racine; her grandchildren, Mitzi (Paul) Doolen of Milwaukee; Keli (Kevin) McKenna of Richfield, Robert, Jr. (Kelsey) of Woodbury, MN, James of Bloomington, MN, Michael (Ann) Moy of Hayward, CA, Melissa (Jason) Shinnock of Pacifica, CA; and her step grandchildren, Dan (Stephanie) Wage and Jennifer Wage, both of Wausau.

She is further survived by her great grandchildren, Rebecca Race of St. Francis, Ryan (Alyssa) of Yuma, AZ, Jonathan Doolen of Milwaukee, Sara (Josiah) Sweeney of Milwaukee, Cooper and Peyton McKenna, both of Richfield, Calvin, Charlie, Isabella, Riley, Oliver, Woodbury; Seth, Brittany and Tate Wage, Savannah, and Skylar Pauls of Wausau; and her great-great grandchildren, Maddelynn Buck of St. Francis ; her nephews, Dave (Pamela) Starr of Stoughton; her niece, Kathleen (Rick Robbins) Wenner of Louisville, KY; her cousin, Marsha (Frank) Lau of Fort Meyers, FL; her many loving nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces and many loving friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty (Starr), Margaret (Webb) and Agnes (in infancy) also nieces, Sandra (Wenner) Hourigan, Kim Webb and nephew, Larry Wenner.
