Edward J. Gogola, age 92 of Kenosha died on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Brookside Care Center. Born in Kenosha on May 27, 1922, he was the son of the late Joseph and Antoinette (Turcek) Gogola. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Kenosha High School. From December 19, 1942 until December 17, 1945, Ed honorably served our country in the U.S. Air Force in England. On July 9, 1966 he was united in marriage to Rosella “Jimmie” Lamirande. Sadly, she preceded him in death on January 20, 1975. Ed was employed with McWhyte Wire Rope Company for 42 years, retiring in 1984. He was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and was a 30 year member of the Kenosha Gem and Mineral Society. Ed was a “rock hound” who loved teaching lapidary at the Kenosha Public Museum. He traveled the United States looking for that special rock or gem stone. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Ed especially liked the time he spent trying to hook the biggest perch in Lake Michigan. Ed is survived by his sister, Josephine Cantway of Royal Palm Beach, FL. Ed will forever be remembered as a wonderful uncle by his two nephews; five nieces; seventeen great nieces and nephews and nine great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Gogola; two sisters, Dorothy and Winifred Gogola; and his great niece, Shayne Nummela.
