Charles Lee Rich, age 95 of Kenosha, died on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Brookdale Kenosha. Born in Havre de Grace, MD on September 6, 1923, he was the son of the late Charles Lee Rich, Sr. and Erwina (Richardson) Rich. From 1943 to 1973, Charles honorably served in the United States Navy Submarine Corps, and retired as a Senior Chief Engineman. He received the Navy Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, American Theatre Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, WWII Victory Medal and the Navy Occupation Medal. Charles was also an instructor and career counselor at Great Lakes Naval Training. He took many courses on diesel engineering, operation and maintenance, and comprehensive engine courses. On April 20, 1950, in Somerville, MA, he was married to Inez A. Govoni. After his time in the U.S. Navy, Charles was employed for 20 years with Baxter Laboratories in Lake County, IL. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Waukegan and was a volunteer at the church. He was active in the Fleet Reserve, was a volunteer with PADS Homeless Center, Meals on Wheels and Volkssport with his beloved sister, Elizabeth. He is survived by his children, Diane E. Trask of Avon, CT and Carole A. Clark of Redway, CA; his grandchildren, Brian Trask, Laura Boraks, Lisa Felipe and Steven Boraks; his great grandchildren, Mateus and Marcos Felipe and Samuel Boraks; his loving nieces and nephews and his devoted friend of over 30 years, Marlene Nehls. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Inez A. Rich; a daughter, Jeanne H. Boraks; his brothers, Donald and David Rich; and a sister, Elizabeth Trapnell. |
