Glenn S. Matthews, age 94 of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 15, 2018. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, Glenn was born on March 30, 1924 and was the son of Marchel and Helen (Langer) Matthews. From April, 1942 until his honorable discharge April, 1946, Glenn served in the U.S. Army during WWII. During his time in the service, Glenn was assigned to Patton’s Third Army 736th Field Artillery, Battalion B. He was a sighter on a Howitzer cannon and proudly attained the rank of Sergeant. On May 20, 1950, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Goodwin. She preceded him in death on May 12, 1977. For 44 years, Glenn was employed in various positions at MacWhyte Wire Rope Company. He attended St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and the former St. George Catholic Church. He was a member of the Kenosha Moose Club #286 and the VFW Junker-Ball Post #1865. Glenn enjoyed woodworking, golf and fishing with his brother “Duke” and cribbage with his brother and father every Saturday afternoon at 2:00 as well as every holiday family get-together. He made a mean meatloaf, chili and American Ketchup Chop Suey. He is survived by his son, Bradley (Kathy) Matthews, his grandchildren, Aaron (Jodi) Matthews, Sarah (Jacob) Knolmayer, Melissa Carter, Joseph (Lisa) Miller and Ryan (Susanna) Miller; and his great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Addison and Braden Matthews, Vincent and Bridget Knolmayer, Madilyn and Marshall Rhett Carter, and Baggio, Giada, Ella and Jackson Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marilyn Matthews; his daughter, Nancy Faraca Carter; his brother, Marshall Matthews and his sister, Audrey (Matthews) Lois and his longtime companion, Verna Cairo.
