Annajune “Mickey” Mallmann, 91, a resident of Bristol, WI, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home into the arms of her loving Savior on Tuesday, June 3, 2014.
She was born in Chicago, IL on Jan. 17, 1923 to the late Martin and Anna (nee: Lennon) Bauer.
After graduating from Evangelical Lutheran School of Nursing in Chicago, she proudly served during WWII as a 2nd Lt. in the US Army Nursing Corps. As a flight nurse transporting wounded from Burma to India during her tour in the China-Burma-India-Theater, she captured a Japanese soldier, shot a Bengal tiger and survived a forced landing into the jungle. She was honorably discharged from military service in 1946.
She married the late Gerald P. Mallmann on March 2, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bristol, WI. The couple enjoyed 60 wonderful years together living in San Diego, Bristol, Appleton and Kenosha.
Mickey’s life was indeed one of service to others. She served amazing meals not just for her family, but often orchestrating meals for nearly 500 people, at large events such as the Friedens Lutheran Church’s spaghetti dinner. Until she was into her 80’s, she was often on the boards of several charitable and educational organizations, including the Lutheran Girl Pioneer National Council, the Wise Penny Thrift Store (which benefited Shoreland Lutheran High School), Fox Valley Lutheran’s Ladies Guild, Friedens Ladies aid, 4H and the University of Wisconsin Extension Home Community Educators.
Mickey is survived by her 6 children, Tuleen “Tully” Weiss, Bristol, WI, Darrow “DJ” (Gwen) Mallmann, Locust Grove, VA, Jan Mallmann, Hortonville, WI, Justin (Brenda) Mallmann, Lake Geneva, WI, Peter (Ruth) Mallmann, Bristol, WI and Anne (Jesse) Rangel, Kenosha, WI; 10 Grandchildren: Donald (Lynn), Tara (Cory), Alec (Laura), Nicole (John Michael), Samuel (Jen), Jesse (Kelly), Lauren (John), Alicia (Matt), Amanda (Jacob), and William; 11 Great-Grandchildren: Nicholas (Rachael), Alexander (Rebecca), Josephine, Lanie, Elise, John, Hannah, Tanner, Amaya, Zach, and Emily; 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren: Joshua, Emily, and Hastin; her Sister-in-law, Rose, (Dave) and 2 Daughter-in-laws: Kathleen and Joan.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her 4 brothers, John, (Virginia), Clarence (Marie), Martin (Irene), and Edward, (Rose); her son-in-law, John, and her daughter-in-law, Lisa.
Mickey will be remembered for having a deep and generous love for her Lord, Family, Church, Friends and Country.
