Born on July 22, 1951, she was the daughter of Richard and Lorraine (Krostag) Altman. On April 6, 1979 in Rawlings, Wyoming, she was united in marriage to William J. Ruesch. They moved to Kenosha in 1983 making it their home. Sadly, after 34 years of marriage, William preceded her in death on June 21, 2013. Shirley began her cosmetologist/beautician career in 1976. In a span of 30 years, she had worked at various salons throughout our area and owned and operated Awesome Image Hair and Nails in Bristol, WI. She retired from the salon in 2006. Following retirement, Shirley was employed with Sears until 2012 and Home Depot until 2014. She was a member and a past president of the V.F.W. Post #2751 in Somers and a previous member of the Kenosha Women of the Moose Chapter #155. Shirley loved life and her family. She enjoyed the beauty of her flower gardens, shooting pool and being on a pool league. Shirley liked up-north living where she spent time snowmobiling, fishing, riding ATV’s, and trying her luck at casinos. Shirley will be remembered by her father, Richard Altman; her life partner, Mark Chabowloski; her daughters, Angela (Joel) Gross and Ann (Scott) Wegher; her seven grandchildren, Jonathon (Ashley) and Jacob (Brittany) Hetland, Alex Ruesch, Aris Garcia, Naomi, Adriana and Maxwell Gross; and her three great grandchildren, Anthony, Jaxon and Logan Hetland. She is further survived by her brother, Bruce (Cindy) Altman; a sister, Judy (Larry) Gruss; two nieces and two nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother and three children in infancy. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice Alliance, Inc., especially Jennifer and Aimee; Dr. Malik Bandealy and staff; Phlebotomist, Tess and the Infusion Nurses for the special care and love they provided to Shirley. |
